Alliance for IBM, an employee group said in its website that IBM may slash as many as 16,000 later this month. The move is expected to be triggered due to the ongoing global meltdown.

Lee Conrad, the national coordinator for the Alliance for IBM group said that the company’s employees have been knowing that job cuts are around the corner.
“We constantly rebalance our workforce and continue to invest in growth areas,” said IBM’s spokesperson Ian Colley, reports Bloomberg.
The announcements are speculated to coincide with the company’s quarter four performance disclosures.
