Microsoft claims EU ruling benefits Google

Software giant Microsoft Corp. has accused the European Commission of benefiting Google Inc. if Brussels presses ahead with its plans to regulate the company's Windows operating system, the Financial Times reported Saturday, citing documents seen by the newspaper.

According to the report, the ruling would leave Google with a greater dominance of the Internet search business. The European Union plan aims to dilute the advantage Microsoft gets in the browser market by packaging its Windows operating system and its Internet Explorer browser, the newspaper said.
