Last year was not the greatest one for Google Android. We cannot blame Google considering only one device went on sale in the market which was Google G1.

Things are expected to change massively by the end of the year. A lot more devices would be available and in more regions.

Market research firm Strategy Analytics believes that Google Android powered Smartphone shipments would grow by around 900 percent this year.

Apple iPhone however is likely to dominate the sales in the market but its growth rate would be much slower at around 80%.

Apple iPhone has been around for almost two years now and it has revolutionized the Smartphone market with its intuitive interface and usability factor.

Apple is not sitting idle however. They are working hard on the iPhone 3.0 software update. The company is also expected to launch a new edition of iPhone by the middle of the year to cash in on the holiday sale.
