Intel's P55 chipset will be launched in June

Intel's P35 and P45 chipsets (we did a huge comparison of P45 boards) were a great choice for the majority of people, and the latter still is a very good choice if you're after some Core 2 overclocking.

For their next wave of processors, the Core i5 chips, Intel are making a chipset specifically for use with them.

They're going to launch the chipset during Computex in Taipei this June, but as Fudzilla reports actually seeing them on store shelves isn't going to be happening for a long while - there isn't enough pressure from AMD to rush the P55 out.

Another theory is that the platform isn't the most appealing right now (offering only a slightly tempting QPI vs FSB, and the larger CPU cache), so Intel is holding back to see what happens.

In either case, head over to Fudzilla to have a read.
