Recession or not, the IT effect is seen in just about every industry. As various industries realize the inherent benefits of SaaS, there has been an increasing demand for SaaS developers.
But according to the Evans Data report, there has been a significant shift in the demand pattern for SaaS based applications this time around. While the U.S. and European countries formed a major share in demand for SaaS, Asian countries are leading this chart this time. But ironically, the number of developers currently working on SaaS implementations is highest in North America, where 30 percent say this is part of their current development efforts.

“These SaaS results definitely reaffirm the success of this concept in replacing the traditional model of business applications being run in house with traditional software licenses," stated John Andrews, president and CEO of Evans Data. "SaaS is delivering on the promise of rapid deployment, limited upfront investment in capital and staffing, plus a reduction in the software management responsibility.”
According to the Evans Data report, there are some clouds of doubts about the future of cloud computing with the developers. The report states that less than 10 percent of developers using cloud services, but over a quarter have plans to use cloud services at some point. Again Asia-Pacific region comes to the rescue here, with more than half of the respondents still having a liking for cloud computing.
In December, the company said that over 88 percent of developers say they use some dynamic language some of the time and over 40 percent use one more than half of the time. According to the company, javascript is by far the most widely used dynamic language, although 45 percent of developers in Asia who use dynamic languages now use PHP in some of their projects.
